Dear friends,

This time of year asks members of the 嫩草影院 family everywhere to pause and reflect on what we are grateful for now and the many blessings ahead.

Words cannot express my gratitude for our healthy campus, our caring faculty and staff, and our engaging students. As a campus, our Marlins have had a much more normal semester, filled with in-person learning, events, and co-curricular activities. We hosted Marlins Day Open House in-person for prospective students and their families and were delighted by the return of live performances. Our student production of Nickelodeon's was a huge hit!

We are thankful for the 嫩草影院 Board of Trustees for their service to our institution. After wrapping up a busy October with its Fall Business Session, our Board members' support, engagement, and stewardship are evident in all they do, and we thank them.

We are hopeful for the bright futures of our students. We announced our first-ever 嫩草影院 Global Campus Commencement ceremony will be held on Saturday, December 18. Board of Trustees member and Class of 2011 alumna Mavis McKenley will be our keynote speaker. All students who have fulfilled graduation requirements since May 2021 are eligible to participate in this special event.

Last but not least, we are grateful for friends like you. Friends that take an interest in our students, our campus happenings, and our future. Your friendship and support help to make Virginia Wesleyan Coastal Virginia's premier university of the liberal arts and sciences.

This is my 18th year serving as Executive Editor (along with Dr. Marylouise Fennell) of the presidential thought-leadership series . The third chapter of the 2021-2022 President to President thought leadership series is now available online. In 鈥,鈥 Rider University President Gregory G. Dell鈥橭mo, Ph.D., describes a unique approach to learning that integrates students鈥 academic and career goals with their other interests to offer a more robust and fulfilling educational experience. The program his university established improves post-graduation prospects and helps students become well-rounded individuals.

This year鈥檚 series, titled 鈥,鈥 will explore how colleges and universities are approaching their missions with new vigor and re-examining their role in the community as the world continues working through the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the course of 10 chapters, these experts will provide unique insights into how recent and ongoing events are shaping the college experience.

锘磕鄄萦霸 is a Vaccine Champion University. The 嫩草影院 Emergency Response Team continues to monitor COVID-19 guidance and conditions. The University is conducting as normal of an academic year as possible. 
Dr. Scott D. Miller is president of 嫩草影院. Respected as one of the most entrepreneurial higher education executives in America, he is in his 31st year as a university president. Dr. Miller has dedicated his career to the opportunities available through education. He especially values the small, classical, liberal arts college environment that offers students personalized pathways to life and career success.

Previously, he was president of Bethany College (2007-2015), Wesley College (1997-2007), and Lincoln Memorial University (1991-1997). He was also Executive Vice President (1988-1991) and Vice President for Development (1984-1988) at Lincoln Memorial University and Director of College Relations and Alumni Affairs at Rio Grande College (now University) in Ohio. Read more.
